a small story about memory

Your agent forgets. That's the job it was given.

Every morning it meets your codebase for the first time. tessera is the memory it should have had: your tickets, your symbols, your docs, your team's decisions — kept warm in Postgres, served over MCP.

Meet the atlas in your browser the practical site
the tessera mascot: a hand-drawn stack of small animals
tessera — “a small stack, carrying context.”

Context is a place, not a prompt

We kept watching the same scene: a good model, a clear task, and answers that still missed the decision the team made in March. Not a reasoning failure — a memory failure. So tessera keeps the memory where it belongs: in one Postgres, next to the code it describes.

“Don't make the model smarter. Make the context cheaper to remember.”

A ticket becomes a cached record. A repo becomes a symbol-level atlas. A docs folder becomes a lookup. A decision becomes a row with a lifespan — and, when it's replaced, a pointer to its successor instead of a ghost your agent keeps obeying.

And it keeps its own receipts

Every MCP call is metered: tokens returned versus tokens displaced. The report shows the net as a range, because pretending to a single number would be dishonest. When a call loses, you'll read about it — we publish ours.
